The Jimmy Carter Jamboree

Beginning on October 1, 2017, The California Carter Initiative has been celebrating President Jimmy Carter’s lifelong accomplishments while collecting city and county and state proclamations and resolutions to recognize his leadership for peace, human rights, housing, diplomacy, energy, clean conservation, health, mental health and privacy.

Each year we have organized film screenings, community events, television and radio broadcasts and concerts in order to educate and bring recognition to Carter’s service as US President and his work with The Carter Center. We believe we can “Jimmy” our nation into a radical revolution, “Carter Style”, with kindness, unity and generosity!

We find it is a scandal how Carter has been silenced in our nation for nearly forty years when arguably he “stands with the giants.” As we reflect on his administration and how his policies have impacted not only our own nation but countries around the world, we can claim he was arguably one of our greatest leaders.

In October, 2025, we offered a fundraising event in Fairfax, California to send California high school students to the Conflict Resolution Youth Summit in the Summer of 2026 at the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School of Peace and Conflict Resolution, George Mason University. Musicians José Neto (former music director/guitarist for the late Harry Belafonte), Steve Wolf and Mason Holcomb and GMU graduate Marla Beck with Ryan Coe joined our effort. A short video of the event will soon be made available.

In November, 2026, The California Carter Initiative was selected to be presented by Barbara McVeigh at the World Forum for Democracy in France, sponsored by The Council of Europe. We were excited to share the power of grassroots efforts to celebrate a US President who demonstrated sound policies, stood for peace and taught us, as the people, our responsibility and power as a US citizen. Here is a transmission of the presentations.
